Start with the light

A flattering camera angle only gets you so far when the light is working against you. Halo is built around that everyday photography problem: making lighting tools available on the device already in your hand.

What the app offers

Its App Store listing describes selfie lighting, glow effects, filters, and a live preview. The app is available for iPhone and iPad, with in-app purchases. Check the listing for current compatibility and purchase options.

A useful way to try it

Use the same position and room for a few comparison photos. Change one setting at a time, then look at the saved images rather than only the preview. The useful question is whether you prefer the result in the conditions where you actually take photos.

A note from the publisher

Halo is made by Redmont Digital, the studio behind this publication. This introduction explains the product; it is not an independent review or a scored recommendation. The illustration on this page is editorial artwork, not an app screenshot.
